What the Anki download contains

The download is a UTF-8 TSV text file with 100 rows and two tab-separated fields. Each row becomes one Basic card. You do not need an add-on to import it.

First card in the file

Front: ご飯
Back: ごはん (gohan) - rice (cooked); meal [food]

Use the CSV if you want five separate spreadsheet columns: Japanese, kana, romaji, English, and topic. For a printable copy, use your browser's Print command and choose Save as PDF. If you prefer to study immediately, practice Japanese flashcards in your browser.

How to import the cards into Anki

Download the Anki TSV above and open Anki on your computer.
Choose File > Import, then select inku-japanese-starter-flashcards-anki.tsv.
Set the separator to Tab, the note type to Basic, and the deck to the deck where you want these cards.
Check the preview shows exactly two fields. Map field 1 to Front and field 2 to Back.
Import the file. Basic creates one Japanese-to-meaning card per row, with no reverse card.

Fix common import problems

Everything appears in one field: change the separator to Tab and confirm the preview splits each row into two fields.
The meaning appears first: swap the field mapping so field 1 maps to Front and field 2 maps to Back.
Japanese text is garbled: download the original file again. If you edit or resave it, keep the file encoded as UTF-8.
A repeat import adds fewer than 100 notes: Anki checks the first field for duplicates within the note type. Review the duplicate setting before choosing to update, ignore, or import matching rows as new notes.
